Her ancestors fled Taris Taris Planet when the planet was bombarded Destruction of Taris Event Old Sith Wars . After receiving the title of Doctor Doctor Miscellaneous Ranks , she made it her life's work to cure Colu's syndrome - a rare cancer that affects only the descendants of Tarisian refugees. It was during the Republic Galactic Republic Organization Galaxy-Wide Organizations 's initiative to resettle Taris Resettlement Initiative Event Cold War (3653BBY - 3642BBY) the planet that she realized that without the medical records of the original settlers she would be unable to advance further. Using Republic grant money, Synoda came to Taris to gain access to the systems of Taris's old general hospital. She underestimated the dangers of Taris and wasn't able to reach the hospital herself. She set up camp near the Republic's Waypoint Aurek in the Sinking City region, where she met with a group of Republic operatives Republic Operatives Organization Temporary Unions and asked Legacy of Death Event Cold War (3653BBY - 3642BBY) for their help in obtaining data. The operatives agreed and she gave them the plans of the hospital, pointing out the emergency generators that should be run to power up the computers and download the old records.
